Multiple actions are below — including signing the petition in support, generating awareness through social media, and contacting your council member. Please let your voice be heard to protect the animals.

1. Contact the Blaine City Council


If you live in the city of Blaine, please contact the Blaine City Council members and ask that they consider a humane pet store ordinance to end the sale of puppy mill puppies in Blaine pet stores.
  • If possible, contact your specific council member directly (their name and contact information are listed at right)
  • Or email the council: citycouncil@blaine.mn.gov

  • It's important to customize your email or letter in your own words. Please include in your message:
    - your name and address (state you are a resident of Blaine; council members want to hear from residents)
    - your opposition to puppy mills and the link to pet stores
    - your support of a humane pet store ordinance
    - your own personal story, if you have one
    - important: ask the council member for their support of the humane pet store ordinance and the protection of these animals

"I oppose the pipeline between puppy mills and pet stores that buy and sell puppies from these industrial breeding facilities. I am in support of the Blaine Humane Pet Store that will shift pet stores in the city of Blaine to become humane — and no longer buy and sell animals from puppy mills. This will protect the breeding dogs and cats, puppies and kittens, and consumers. Treating animals humanely is important to me."
